I lick the sides of the sandy shores and merrily I sing,
A melody of water and tides I always seem to bring.
I'm always reaching for the land ahead, but no where can I go,
I'm stuck in a trench of depth, immense, and with the rain I grow.
But even with the new found growth no farther do I get.
The sunny land and beautiful plants still elude me yet.
I'm content to work my unmet goal until I'm not quite here;
I'll keep reaching for the land throughout the long, still years.

FYI, this is personification in case anyone was confused, lol... It's written from the view of the lake... Lol, I was bored one day...
